MORGANTOWN -
Ground Zero Fighting Systems Academy held a Submission only Grappling tournament Saturday in the Mountaineer Mall.
The championship was for women and men of all ages. The event focuses on Jiu-Jitsu and submission wrestling matches.
The owner of the Academy says this type of tournament is unique. The only way to win is by submission. It does not revolve around points and time limits.
"Submission only is kind of a unique kind of tournament. For a long time we were the only people doing them on the east coast and then it started catching on a little more," said Josh Fowler, the Co-Founder of Ground Zero. "And now there's a few more around the east coast. So our motivation is to give people a unique way to compete."
The tournament started with professional fights and then continued from the lower age and weight groups up.
