BRIDGEPORT -

Operation Christmas Child sends presents to children in developing countries every year. Fellowship Bible Church in Bridgeport was a collection site for the presents and this past week was National Collection Week for the organization.

The organization asks volunteers to fill a shoe box with toys and school supplies and to choose to pack a box for either a boy or girl in three age ranges. Once the shoe boxes are filled and dropped off volunteers fill larger boxes and then they are transported to Charleston, WV. From there, they get sent to more than 130 countries around the world.

Jody Schrock is the area coordinator for Harrison, Taylor, and Lewis counties. She said the turnout this year was great.

"We had the store placed over there and we filled 2094 shoe boxes, with the things we had collected and things that had been donated to us" Schrock said.
