West Virginia University is being recognized for its service to veterans.

WVU ranks 18th on the Military Time's "Best For Vets" list.

The university was one of 650 schools that responded to a survey from Military Times, a weekly newspaper.

Operation Welcome Home, a Morgantown area non-profit group supporting veterans, said the university benefits from having a community so supportive of veterans.

WVU has more than 800 students who are veterans or their dependents.

The school's Interim Veterans Advocate said the school hopes to become number one.
