More than a century ago,
Charles Dickens penned what is now a classic tale for the holidays: "A Christmas
Carol." The tale is once again coming to life in a way even Dickens couldn't
have imagined when the Nebraska Theatre Caravan makes its third appearance at
the Chuck Mathena Center in Princeton at the end of November.
"A Christmas
Carol" will be at 8 p.m. Nov. 29.
The national
touring production was first adapted for stage in 1979 when it began a small
tour in the Midwest. After critically acclaimed success, the production quickly
grew and now performs all over the United States with 28 performers,
more than 100 costumes and a set that recreates London in the
1880s.
"'A Christmas
Carol' is a large undertaking for CMC," commented Ashley Dillow, marketing
director. "We work for multiple days ahead of time to prepare. We have to bring
in numerous stage crew for the show, and they work all day long building the
set, preparing costumes and setting the special effects. The entire production
is absolutely the closest thing to a Broadway production you can see without
having to go all the way to New York. This is our community's chance to celebrate
the holiday spirit with an enormous, breathtaking show unlike anything they
have ever seen."
"A Christmas
Carol" has played to a sold-out crowd since the Princeton debut in December 2010.
