GRAFTON -

Everyone describes Grafton, West Virginia as a tight knit community; a place where everyone seems to know your name.

Uncle T's Kitchen is known for its good food and its hometown feel.

"Everybody kind of knows everybody here," says Uncle T's Owner J.T. McDaniel. "I know almost every person that comes through the door."

Customers agree.

"You get to see a lot of friends down here," said customer Jay Taylor. "You frequently see people you know from around town, from church."

Uncle T's Kitchen is relatively new to the Grafton area, being only six months old.

J.T. McDaniel said it has always been a dream of his to open a restaurant in his home town.

"I've been cooking for about 16 years and I've always wanted to do this," he said. "It's been a dream of mine. My parents helped me out and I was able to do it."

Uncle T's Kitchen is decorated in Blue and Gold, supporting the Grafton Bearcats and the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Its specialties include hoagies, pasta, pizza, and a variety of sandwiches.

McDaniel enjoys adding a little bit of "unique" to his menu.

"I got a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with bacon and bananas on it," he said. "We do all kinds of crazy specials. I'm just trying to do something different."

Customers said the words 'unique' and 'different' is what keeps them coming back.

"The Pasta Primavera is definitely the best item on the menu," Taylor said. "I definitely recommend that."

Other customers kept repeating the word, "original".

Now Uncle T's Kitchen is known for its fresh ingredients that are locally grown.

It is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday's 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
