Salvation Army of Marion County Kicks Off Angel Tree Campaign

Posted: Updated:

The Salvation Army of Marion County held it's Christmas Assistance Signups just a little over a month ago.

Now, the Angel Tree campaign has kicked off and the names of more then 500 children are waiting to be chosen.

All of the angel cards have the child's name, age, gender, clothing size, and wish list.

The campaign aims to make sure every child wakes up to a gift on Christmas morning.

"We take their application, make sure they qualify and then we make up a little paper angel and stick it up on our trees," said Heather Hawkins, Salvation Army director. "Then members of our community will take the paper angel, adopt the angel, buy the child all of its Christmas presents, bring them back to us then we will distribute it to all of the families."

The angels are hanging on trees at nine different Marion County locations.

Angels can be found at the Marion County Public Library, Rider Pharmacy, the courthouse, Middletown Mall, Cracker Barrell, Walmart, Health Plex, Aegis, and Backwoods Florist in Fairview.
