FAIRMONT -
A committee of local volunteers are making efforts to ensure every child in Marion County has a good Christmas.
This is the fourth year the Marion County Commissioners, church leaders, and members of the community have come together for the "Christmas Toy Shop."
The theme this year is "Every kid deserves a good Christmas."
It allows parents who wouldn't normally be able to shop for their children to choose a few gifts for them to open on Christmas morning.
"We set a goal to $10,000," said Marion County Commissioner Butch Tennant. "Five days ago we was at 4,300 some odd dollars. So we really went out and beat the push and we are over $13,000 right now. We are really buying every toy we can. It's going to be a big event."
Last year, the Christmas Toy Drive helped more than 400 families.
