HUNTINGTON (AP) — Extreme drought conditions across
the Greater Mississippi Valley are affecting the fall drawdown of three
lakes in West Virginia.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it's
temporarily halting the fall drawdown of Sutton and Summersville lakes.
The start of Bluestone Lake's drawdown is being delayed.
The
corps says the drawdown adjustments are necessary due to expected low
water levels on the lower Ohio River and points downstream.
Drawdown of the three lakes will resume on Dec. 1. They are expected to reach winter pool by Dec. 10.
