Shoppers Take Advantage of Small Business Saturday in Fairmont

Fairmont businesses were not only using the American Express perks on Small Business Saturday. Most were offering discounts of their own.

Rider Pharmacy is having a buy one, get one half-off sale that is continuing throughout the holiday season. The owner, Jonathan Rider, said that he was very pleased with the turn out.

Small Business Saturday is a great way to bring the community to shop at small businesses in their area, Rider said.

Kerri's Korner Bookstore had some contests and a local author in the store.

"We're having quite a big event," said Kerri Childs, the owner of Kerri's Korner. "We're having twenty five percent off the entire store, we're having free refreshments provided by Noteworthy Sweets which is a downtown bakery, we have a local author here signing her books and we're also having a free book giveaway."

Other stores, like Heartfelt Gifts and Homemade Crafts, held open houses to show off their merchandise. Most of the local businesses will have discounts the rest of the week.
