Millions of people have gone online Monday to get a good deal.

eCoupons.com said Cyber Monday may help you get ahead on your holiday shopping but it also exposes you to online scams.

eCoupons.com has some security tips for online shoppers.

It said customers should do their homework before they buy something online.

"If you're going to smaller websites, I would always make sure it has a legitimate address. that it's not just a PO Box," said Talya Schaeffer, of eCoupons.com. "That the address is in the United States. That there is real contact information and an "about us" page."

Here are some safety tips:

  • Don't shop at work
  • Use only one credit card
  • Don't shop on unencrypted WiFi networks
  • Never email personal information
  • And beware of emails claiming to be from big companies.
