The Monongalia County Sheriff's Department responded to a fatal vehicle accident Monday afternoon.
The sheriff's department was dispatched to the three mile marker on Interstate 68 westbound at approximately 1:12 p.m.
Witnesses said that a 2003 Chevy truck was traveling west in the right lane when it veered to the left lane and into the median cable barrier. The driver was unresponsive shortly after the witnesses arrived at the truck.
The driver of the truck, a 66-year-old man from Kentucky, was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital by Monongalia EMS, where he was later pronounced dead, deputies said.
The sheriff's department is not releasing the name of the driver until family members are notified.
