
The Marion County Sheriff's Department and the Fairmont Fire Department are investigating a structure fire that happened in Fairmont Tuesday morning.
The fire occurred at a house on Pennsylvania Avenue at approximately 12:08 a.m.
Fairmont Fire Chief Jim Emerick said the fire began in the basement but the cause is undetermined.
The house suffered minor damage. Officials said the family was home at the time but were able to get out safely due to fire alarms.
It took crews 10 minutes to extinguish the fire.
The sheriff's department, fire department, and the Marion County Rescue Squad all responded to the scene.
