Fourth graders from Norwood Elementary School in Clarksburg learned about Christmas "Around the World" Tuesday with the help of Harrison County Parks and Recreation.

Students learned traditional dances, games and customs during the holiday season from international cultures at the Harrison County Recreation Complex/4-H Center. This is the third year of the event, which organizers said grows each year.

"First of all we want it to be really fun for them, we want them to look forward to coming here," said Mike Book, director of Harrison County Parks and Recreation. "Then, what we want them to do is accidentally learn some things along the way."

Norwood teachers also said they appreciate the opportunity the "Around the World" program offers for learning outside of the classroom.

"These are experiences that they'll carry with them and remember throughout their life," said fourth grade teacher S.J. Hood.

Harrison County Parks and Recreation will host student groups every weekday throughout the month of December. They are also finalizing dates to open the exhibits to the public.
