HealthSouth MountainView Regional Rehabilitation Hospital will soon start leasing a vacant space on the seventh floor of United Hospital Center.
HealthSouth said it plans to remodel the space and use it for an acute inpatient rehabilitation unit.
"The addition of this space will allow us to provide high-quality and cost-effective inpatient rehabilitation services to more patients in the Bridgeport area and the surrounding communities," said Vickie Demers, CEO at HealthSouth MountainView. "It is exciting to be able to offer more patients access to the therapy they need to be able to get back to living their lives."
The plans call for HealthSouth to admit patients to the unit and UHC will provide diagnostic, dietary and laboratory services on a fee-for-service basis.
HealthSouth expects the project to generate 30 new professional jobs.
