A scary wake up call for residents on West Pike Street in Clarksburg Thursday morning, when a fire started in their living room around 6:15 a.m.

Clarksburg fire fighters said the fire started on the living room floor, and crews had to cut out a portion of the floor to put it out.

Fire fighters credit the smoke alarm for alerting the family quickly, so they could leave the building safely and call for help. They said the damage inside the home is minimal.

Clarksburg Police controlled traffic on West Pike Street for almost an hour, because one lane was blocked by the fire trucks.

No one was injured, and crews cleared the scene around 7:30 a.m.
