BUCKHANNON -

West Virginia Wesleyan celebrated the holidays with its annual Festival of Lessons and Carols on Sunday.

The community was invited to attend the festival that was first introduced in 1918 in England.

"It's an English tradition, and it's just readings, scripture readings, complimented with different selections by the chorale and the concentus vocum, two groups here at Wesleyan. Also carols that are sung by the choirs and the congregation together" said R. Daniels Hughes, Director of Chorale Activities.

Nine lessons were read by members of the college and the Buckhannon community.

Those in attendance gathered outside after the concert for the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas tree.
