    An electrical fire destroyed a home in Harrison County Tuesday night. The Harrison County 911 Center said it started just after 12:15 a.m. on Locust Street in Salem. It said the fire appears to be suspicious.

An accident in Doddridge County kept first responders busy Sunday evening.

A brine truck hauling "friction reducer", a chemical based substance of Calcium Chloride, lost control just after 7 p.m. on Meat House Fork Road. Traffic was delayed while crews cleared the scene. The truck pulled over to the shoulder to allow a car to pass. The shoulder was soft, which caused the truck to turn over into the creek, said Kathy Cosco with the W.Va. DEP.

The West Virginia State Police said the chemical has not leaked, but officials are keeping crews and personnel 1,000 meters away from the truck. Oil and fuel has leaked into a nearby creek. Environmental crews placed boom into the creek to absorb any liquid that escaped from the truck, Cosco said.

Ryan Environmental started a containment booth downstream to clear anything that's presently in the water, officials said.

The DEP notified West Union water service to shut off water intake. West Union had a backup supply of water, so service was never disrupted, Cosco said. West Union will continue to monitor the water it draws in.

The driver, Joe McMahan, 31, was taken to United Hospital Center with minor injuries, according to state police.

The DEP will have an inspector on site again Monday to follow up and ensure that all of the oil has been absorbed and removed from the stream.
