The Morgantown Monongalia Metropolitan Planning Organization is ready to unveil its 2040 long-range transportation plan.

The MPO said the plans will improve congestion, encourage alternative transportation, and reduce traffic impediments.

Executive Director Bill Austin said the plans include everything from improving public transportation to fixing roads.

"We want to make sure as we move forward with funding transportation improvements in the area we're meeting the goals in the area that public has for the transportation system," Austin said. "Ultimately it's their system and tax dollars that pay for it."

The meeting is Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Public Safety Building on Spruce Street.
