The Marion County Family Resource Network and the Teen Taskforce hosted a Cyber Safety Family Night on Tuesday at West Fairmont Middle School.
Organizers wanted to educate the community about the dangers related to social networking.
Topics included staying safe on the Internet, social media, and text messaging, but the main focus of the event was "sexting." A study released last year says 28 percent of teens aged 12 to 17 have texted naked pictures of themselves.
The resource network said technology can cause problems if it's not used correctly.

As I said, it goes straight to your cell phone," said HRN executive director Lauren Prinzio.
If you missed Tuesday's meeting, you will have another opportunity in January.
