The Monongalia County Board of Education met with lawmakers Tuesday evening to discuss the recent State Education Audit.

The board focused on the use of technology for both students and teachers and the importance of vocational education. Board President Barbara Parsons said the education audit is very complex and offers challenges and changes for education in West Virginia.

"The timing, the magnitude, the impact. Some of the things that have happened politically have come together at the right time. And now everyone's focused on this and they're saying, 'Oh my gosh, we've got to do something,' and what will happen? I have no idea," Parsons said.

Parsons said lawmakers will have to change the rules to give educators more control in schools and classrooms.
