PRESTON COUNTY -

The West Virginia State Police in Preston County is investigating an armed robbery.

The incident occurred Wednesday night in Tunnelton around 10 p.m.

According to state police, a man and woman knocked on the door of a home saying they ran out of gas and needed to use the phone.

Police said the victim reluctantly opened the door to hand out the phone. The robbers then forced the door open, pulled out a gun, and demanded money and prescription pills.

The couple stole money, prescription medications, and the home's phones, according to state police, and left in a dark blue or green Jeep Cherokee.

The male robber is described as being 5 feet 8 to 10 inches tall, thin and in his early 20s. The female is believed to be 5 feet 1 or 2 inches tall, medium build, and in her late teens or early 20s.
