LEWISBURG, WV -

Deena Rodgers, an administrative assistant at the Greenbrier Valley campus of New River Community and Technical College, has been named the school's outstanding contributor for 2012.

Rodgers was selected for the honor by a vote of New River employees. She received the award at a statewide conference of all West Virginia community colleges.

Each community college selects an outstanding employee to be recognized at the closing banquet at the annual conference, which took place in October. Former New River President Ted D. Spring, Greenbrier Valley campus Dean Roger Griffith and James Skidmore, chancellor of the West Virginia Community and Technical College System, presented the award.

Rodgers joined New River in 2004 as the business officer for the campus. She then moved into admissions and registration, where her ability to deal with students was brought to the forefront. She now serves as the coordinator of off-campus programs in the prisons and dual-credit students at the GVC.

She also serves as the Veteran Certification Officer for the college, providing an array of official services to veteran students and their dependents. In addition to her administrative duties, Rodgers is an adjunct instructor in the Administrative Office Technology program.
