    An electrical fire destroyed a home in Harrison County Tuesday night. The Harrison County 911 Center said it started just after 12:15 a.m. on Locust Street in Salem. It said the fire appears to be suspicious.

"For me, I like to give a lot of presents more than receive," said Brenda. "Because it's not about what you receive, it's about what you give."

Brenda just turned 12 years old, and already, she knows a lot about life.

"The best present you can give is love and friendship and family," she said.

She already has lots of friends in the sixth grade; her best friend made her this bracelet for her birthday but Brenda is looking for a family. "It would mean the world to me."

In her free time, Brenda loves to read books, especially vampire books. "Some of them don't use pictures and I like to use my imagination," she said.

Imagination she channels into writing in a diary, songs, and even short stories. "They all have happy endings where they all have brothers and sisters and a family for Christmas," she said about her stories.

It's the Christmas story she'd like to live in real life.

"Why do you want a family?" I asked her. "Because to me it feels like I'm home again and there's nothing to worry about because I'm safe."
