All currently pending or subsequently filed state court cases regarding Mountain State University will be referred to the mass litigation panel, a Dec. 6 administrative order states.

The order additionally states that if a case is remanded back to state court from federal jurisdiction, such as 14 cases in Jefferson County, they will be referred to the panel as well.

Raleigh County Circuit Judge John Hutchison filed the motion to refer civil actions and the court's supplemental motion to refer in the case of Jessica Bostic v. Mountain State University.

Several lawsuits have been filed in state court against Mountain State University regarding its accreditation.

The exhibit in the order listed more than 200 state court cases, ranging in location with the majority filed in Kanawha, Cabell and Raleigh counties. Others were filed in Putnam and Jefferson counties.

According to the order, all of these cases involve "harm caused to plaintiff as a result of Mountain State University's loss of its general accreditation, special accreditations in its nursing and nurse anesthetist programs and any other educational programs that require independent accreditation."
