West Virginia's state parks have plenty to offer for a New
Year's Eve celebration.
Park lodges are offering a variety of dinners, dances and
packaged options, according to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
Lodge parks hosting parties include Blackwater Falls,
Cacapon Resort, Canaan Valley Resort, Chief Logan Lodge, North Bend, Pipestem
Resort, Stonewall Resort and Twin Falls Resort.
Throughout the year, state parks and forests schedule a
variety of events and activities, with details listed at wvstateparks.com.

A Blackwater Falls new year includes a dinner and dance
party, as well as an overnight package that includes lodging and a breakfast
buffet for the Tucker County park. A youth party includes crafts, games,
singing and other activities. The park will provide a 10 percent discount on
packaged rates for reservations made on or prior to Dec. 21. The park features
a 54-unit lodge, vacation cabins, camping, a full-service restaurant and
Blackwater Falls, which the DNR has said is one of the state's most
photographed scenes.

The new year at Cacapon includes live music, dancing and a
formal toast to kick off 2013. The festivities begin a 9 p.m., and an overnight
package is available for a stay in Morgan County, near Berkeley Springs.
Tickets for just the dance and toast are available as well.

Two party options are in place at Canaan, near Davis in
Tucker County. A family party will include buffet dinner, family games, a punch
to toast at midnight, along with party favors and a DJ for entertainment.
Children younger than age five will be permitted free of charge with a paying
adult. An adult party will include separate buffet dining, access to a lounge
party with live entertainment along with a champagne toast and party favors.

Chief Logan Lodge will be filled with live music from "Easy
Street Band" for New Year's Eve. The lodge is just one mile from U.S. Route
119, between Chapmanville and Logan. A package is available, including an
overnight stay at the lodge, dinner for two, two drink tickets and a champagne
toast. Reservations for only the dinner and party also are available.

North Bend State Park will offer live music and a special
menu as part of its New Year's Eve celebration. North Bend has a lodge,
restaurant and cabins along with a four-season trail.

Pipestem Resort State Park will feature an overnight package
for New Year's Eve, with lodging at McKeever Lodge, dinner dance and a
champagne toast at midnight.

At Stonewall Resort, New Year's Eve can be a relaxing night,
with a package that includes dinner for two at Stillwaters Restaurant, live
music in TJ Muskies Lounge or a spot in front of the crackling fire in the
Grand Hall. The package also includes breakfast on New Year's Day.

Twin Falls State Park is going around the world for New Year's
Eve, with worldwide-themed decorations, and a nudge for evening attire that
would be worn by a tourist or international visitor. The night's plans include
a dance, singing, visual effects, dinner and a midnight toast.
