FAIRMONT -
The Fairmont State University College of Science and Technology hosted the West Virginia FIRST LEGO League tournament on Saturday.
More than 50 teams of middle school students from across the state came to FSU for the competition.
Students worked for months to design a robot that will be used in obstacles and challenges for points.
The FIRST LEGO event challenges students in robot design, research, team work, and how well their robots work in the table challenge.
"They are also being evaluated on how they built the robot, why they built it, the programming in a competition called robot design," said Todd Ensign, Program Director. "They are also being evaluated on core values."
Teams can win prizes in all four areas.
One team will be promoted to compete in the international FIRST LEGO League Tournament in St. Louis in the spring of 2013.
