FAIRMONT -
The Global Day of Code Retreat is an international event that provides an opportunity for professional software developers to focus on lifelong learning.

Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community and Technical College teamed up to host the event for the first time Saturday on its campus.

Programmers had the opportunity to learn more about their industry and meet others in the field.

The day was broken up into different parts and programmers said they'll show up to work on Monday with a bunch of new ideas.

"What can they take back to their jobs that will make them do better and what information can they share with their co workers that number one, can make their co workers more passionate about their jobs and do better work?"  said, Kel Cecil, Program Director. "Number two: how can you improve the quality of the software you are creating in this area?"

The goal was to run as many parallel code retreats around the world as possible in a single day.
