BUCKHANNON -

West Virginia Wesleyan College announced Saturday at its home basketball game that George Shehl will be the new head coach of the football program.

Shehl replaces Jonas Jackson, who served as the Bobcats head coach for the past two seasons.

The Clarksburg native is a graduate of Robert C. Byrd High School, as well as a four-year starter as a member of the West Virginia University football team as a walk-on. Shehl was the holder on special teams beginning in 2002. He returned to WVU as the defensive graduate assistant.

Shehl spent the 2010 season as the defensive graduate assistant at Marshall University.

He then accepted a job to become the defensive coordinator and assistant coach at the University of Charleston under Head Coach Pat Kirkland.

West Virginia Wesleyan will hold a press conference on Wednesday, December 12 at 11 a.m. at the Rockefeller Center, introducing George Shehl as the next head coach of the Bobcats.
