The Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium has scheduled a workshop in Parkersburg to help emergency responders have plans in place before disaster strikes.

The free, U.S. Department of Homeland Security certified course is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 30 in the Judge Black Annex Building at 315 Market St. in Parkersburg.

Participants will learn the basics of mass fatality response and also be able to exchange ideas for solutions to simulated emergencies.

The 8-hour, instructor-led course will offer participants with knowledge about planning, different types of emergency operations plan formats and practice scenarios.

Registration deadline for the course is Jan. 16. Registrations may be made by contacting Christian Fernley at 304-558-2930 or Gregory.c.fernley@wv.gov.
