With pools finally opening up and temperatures usually rising, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer. But you wouldn't have known judging by how empty local pools were Saturday, when temperatures lingered in the 60s.

Candles were lit around the world Sunday night for the 16th Annual Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting. A local version of the ceremony was held in Bridgeport at the United Hospital Center.
The ceremony honors and remembers children who have died at any age from any cause. The UHC Bereavement Support Group, "Embracing Invisible Wings," said this helps parents who have lost a child with the grieving process.
"It helps you to know that you're not the only one going through this kind of pain, and that there are other people suffering. And I think that once people get into the healing process they can help each other get through that really difficult time, especially early on in that loss" said Lee Ann Romeo, Child Birth Educator at UHC.
