A Harrison County judge has sentenced a Lewis County man for the Nov. 3, 2011 stabbing death of his wife, Ida Marie "Dolly" Messenger.

Judge James Matish sentenced Terry Messenger to 40 years in prison for second degree murder.

Judge Matish recommended that Messenger not receive parole until he serves 20 years in prison.

The jury deliberated for four hours, according to the Harrison County Prosecutor's Office.

Messenger will receive credit for time he has already served. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail awaiting transportation to the Division of Corrections.
