Harrison County Elected Officials Participate in 'Prep School' Training Event

Posted: Updated:

Not every candidate elected to public office last month will hit the ground running.

That's why the West Virginia Association of Counties established its "prep school."

Newly elected commissioners, prosecutors, sheriffs, and assessors gathered Wednesday at the Bridgeport Conference Center to learn about their new jobs.

"Duties, obligations, policies, procedures," said Jeff Waybright, of the W.Va. Association of Counties. "Go over some West Virginia code to let them know what their duties are and not let them over step their bounds into another elected officials office. Just try to harmonize all of the elected officials."

More than 70 newly elected officials participated in Wednesday's training.
