The commission has appointed assistant county administrator Megan Pomeroy to succeed Willie Parker, who resigned last week.

The Westover Rotary club treated some Monongalia County Elementary students to a Christmas party Wednesday.
Students from Skyview and Mylan Park Elementary spent a few hours Wednesday at the Westover VFW meeting Santa and singing Christmas songs.
The rotary club said the students selected were in need of extra holiday cheer.
The club said it's all about community service.
"We have to put in motion what we're asking others to do," said Derek Smith, of the Westover Rotary Club. "And when you see the kids faces light up when they get something from Santa Clause that they wouldn't gotten the chance to get, that's what makes it worth it."
The club bought pizza and gifts for the students. It raised about $3,500 to do so.
