A man charged with two counts of grand larceny in Monongalia County tried to escape a transport van Tuesday night.
The incident occurred Tuesday around 7:30 p.m. near the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County.
The Monongalia County Sheriff's Department said Melvin Dalton, 29, tried escaping the van after breaking its rear window.
Dalton was immediately captured by officers. He was then transported to United Healthcare in Clarksburg, before being transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, for injuries sustained in the incident.
Dalton is also charged with petit larceny in Monongalia County, and transferring or receiving stolen property in Marion County.
He currently in North Central Regional Jail after a Monongalia County Magistrate set his bail at $125,000.
