FAIRMONT -

The Fairmont General Hospital Foundation received a generous donation that will go toward its 'Improving Women's Health' Campaign.

The Fairmont Fire Department recently held a T-shirt sale with all proceeds going to the new digital mammography unit at Fairmont General.

The Fire Department presented a check to the Foundation today in the amount of $1,150.

The donation places the Foundation at $417,000, which is only $83,000 short of its goal.

"It's just so important to the community," said Whitney Rae Hatcher of the Fairmont General Hospital Foundation. "It's just so cool that two community groups that are so focused on Marion County can come together to support an important cause in the community like breast cancer and the awareness for mammograms."

The foundation believes they will be around $450,000 by January 1, 2013.
