MONONGAH -
Hundreds of people turned out in Monongah Friday for a free toy drive.
The Robin Hood Toy Drive started at 3:00 p.m. and the toys were gone in about half an hour.
Volunteers said that people were waiting outside starting at 1:00 p.m.
They gave out around 500 free brand new toys.
The event began with Warren Sloan who started the Robin Hood project in the 70s. He would leave packages on door steps with a note that said "Robin Hood was here."
"They're glad to give it because they know it's helping. They give them to people that need it," said Sloan. "These aren't people that can go to the store and spend money because they just don't have any."
The Robin Hood Toy Drive will be happening again next year if Warren and his brother Dave are still in good health. They accept donations of unwrapped toys.
