
The Harrison County Sheriff's Department is investigating an accident on Interstate 79 involving a tractor trailer Monday.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:59 a.m. Monday at mile marker 113 in Lost Creek.
A tractor trailer traveling south on Interstate 79 was hauling powdered cement for a well location when it crossed the median, drove through the cable barrier, across the northbound lanes and traveled over the hill, according to Chief Deputy Steve Johnson with the Harrison County Sheriff's Department.
The driver, a 49-year-old man from Pa., refused medical treatment. The sheriff's department is still investigating what caused the accident.
Traffic was congested throughout the day as crews cleared the scene, according to the West Virginia Department of Transportation.
Lost Creek Fire Department and Anmoore EMS responded to the scene.
