Columbia Gas Transmission is planning to return a pipeline to service that was previously shut down as a precautionary measure following explosion of a nearby line.
A report shared by the Public Service Commission authored by Columbia shows that the SM 86 loop, not affected by the accident will return to service. A larger line had already been returned to service just after the incident.
The loop is approximately 53 feet north of the pipeline that exploded. Like the SM 86 pipeline that was already restored to service, the SM 86 loop will be slowly brought online, increasing pressure in three different stages to ensure the pipeline had not experienced a defect as a result of depressurization/repressurization.
The company will use aerial surveillance to monitor potential leaks.
The plan does not include details of restoring the service to the pipeline that exploded, that the company wrote, would be detailed in a separate plan.
Restoration of the service is not expected to interfere with traffic patterns.
