Funding for West Virginia University's new ballpark is one step closer to crossing home plate.
The State Development Office approved a sales TIF district near University Town Center and is recommending the state legislature do the same.
If approved, the sales TIF will primarily be used to construct the stadium.
A property TIF will help fund construction of an exit off Interstate 79.
The intersection would be located between exits 152 and 155 and serve the University Town Center, the new baseball stadium, and new development in the area.
The state legislature will look at the sales TIF during its next session in February.
