WVIAC Spotlight: A-B Release 2013 Football Schedule

Posted: Updated:

Change is on the way at Alderson-Broaddus College. Football is coming to Philippi, and the AB athletic department has released its official schedule for the upcoming season.  This provides head coach Denny Creehan with nothing but smiles.

"I think it's a great thing for our university," AB Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Denny Creehan said. "I think it's going to help us recruit. I think it's going to help us with enrollment. I think it spreads the message of Alderson-Broaddus College to a wider base. So we're very excited about what we're doing."

The Battlers will take the field against a total of 10 teams next year, including squads from Florida, all the way up to New York.  AB will host five games from its soon-to-be finished Performance Stadium, and will rack up the frequent flyer miles by traveling to Florida, Georgia, North Carolina (twice) and Kentucky. Creehan said this schedule will be quite the challenge.

"It's a step up," Creehan added, "there's no question.  As you can see, on our schedule we are playing some National Playoff type of teams. So we have to have our 'A-game' ready. We're going to have to be ready. It's going to be a great learning experience for our young kids."

By the time next season rolls around, the snow will all be gone. Come September 7, 2013, you can expect a packed house inside the brand new Performance Stadium when Alderson-Broaddus takes on Pace University as the newest member of Division II football.

"It's the first ever home game for Alderson-Broaddus. I think it's going to be an immense atmosphere. I think it's going to be really fun. I think you're going to see a sold out stadium," Creehan said.
