MORGANTOWN -

Ruby Memorial Hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit cares for children that are admitted for complicated medical procedures.

Pay it Forward Incorporated of Fairmont wanted to help the children in the PICU at Ruby Memorial, and that's exactly what it did.

It collected brand new teddy bears to bring to the children.

"My granddaughter was in a pageant and they were collecting bears to take to PICU up at Ruby Memorial," said Gina Towson, the Executive Director of Pay it Forward Incorporated. "I got the idea for Pay It Forward Incorporated, that we would collect bears because somebody up there told me that each individual child that enters the PICU gets a teddy bear."

Gina's granddaughter, Katy, and the fourth grade class at East Park Elementary helped collect bears for the kids at Ruby Memorial.

"We actually told our teacher about this and she decided that they would help and she told the whole fourth grade and we collected about thirty bears," said Katy Towson.

The fourth grade class was not the only ones that helped.

Gina Towson said it was a community effort.

"We had individual donors, the Meadowbrook Mall and Jordan Weisenborn," said Gina Towson. "I want to thank them because they donated 48 bears."

Katy and Emma Hawkins are from the fourth grade class that donated and wanted to wish the children in the PICU a Merry Christmas.

Pay it Forward ended up with more than one hundred bears to bring to the patients. If you'd like to know more about Pay it Forward Incorporated visit them on Facebook.
