OAK HILL. (AP) — The state is spending nearly $6 million on road projects to support the Boy Scouts of America's new reserve in Fayette County.
Eight projects have been completed or are under way at a total cost of $15.5 million. Federal funding is paying 80 percent of the cost of six projects.
Department of Transportation spokesman Brent Walker tells The Register-Herald that expected economic development resulting from the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve is worth the state's cost.
The projects include intersection upgrades, repairs and new roadway.
