CHARLESTON (AP) — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin says West Virginians donated generously to help others during the holiday season.

Tomblin says the U.S. Marine Corps received hundreds of toys during its annual Toys for Tots drive at the Capitol Complex.

People attending the governor's holiday parties gave more than 1,500 pounds of food to Huntington Area Food Bank and Mountaineer Food Bank. The food banks distribute the food to pantries statewide.

Tomblin and first lady Joanne Jaeger Tomblin thanked West Virginians on Dec. 27 for their generosity.
