Next time you buy light bulbs, incandescent may not be an option.
The second part of a national phase out of incandescent light bulbs beings January 1, ending the manufacturing of 75 watt bulbs.
The phase out is part of an energy independence act signed in 2007. For many consumers the regulation will just mean replacing the light bulbs with more energy efficient compact fluorescent, LED or halogen bulbs.
Cardello Electric said incandescent bulbs, even candle bulbs can be replaced by a similar looking and light producing energy efficient option.
"Eventually it's something we're all going to have to do. Whether it be just changing your bulb, changing the ballast it's something that is going to have to be done within the next couple of years," said Rosemary Brown of Cardello Electric.
On January 1, 2012 phase one ended 100 watt bulb production, and January 1, 2014 manufacturing of the 40 and 60 watt bulbs will end.
