They're celebrating three "Teaching American History" grants from the US Department of Education.

STAR CITY -
The Star City Volunteer Fire Department's Cash for Gold fundraiser was held Dec.28-Dec. 30.
The fire department is using the proceeds from the event to buy new protective gear and equipment for the trucks.
Lee Goughnour is an ex cop who specializes in Cash for Gold fundraisers for volunteer fire departments. He said the weather did not help them reach their previous earnings of $1,500.
"You're local fire department is really important to a community. You'd be stuck with out them," said Goughnour. "And they need the money right now. Funds are getting tough to raise."
As of Sunday afternoon the fire department received $160 from the event.
