Several lawsuits have been filed in state court against Mountain State University regarding its accreditation.

Brent Benjamin has been elected chief justice of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals for the second time.
He succeeds Menis Ketchum. The appointment was announced Jan. 2.
Every year, the court votes on the position.
Benjamin, an Ohio native, was elected to a 12-year term in November 2004. He received his bachelor's and law degrees from Ohio State University. He moved to Charleston after graduation.
Before becoming a justice, Benjamin was an attorney with Robinson and McElwee, where he practiced general civil litigation in state and federal courts.
He also practiced before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
