Several counties in West Virginia have already started celebrating the state's sesquicentennial. Marion County has a very rich history and now its residents are ready to celebrate how far it has come.
Several counties in West Virginia have already started celebrating the state's sesquicentennial. Marion County has a very rich history and now its residents are ready to celebrate how far it has come.
The Centers for Disease Control is reporting that this season's flu is already wide-spread in West Virginia. That's the highest level of infection a state can reach.
So far, this year's flu is wide-spread in 31 states.
In Monongalia County, the health department said the flu doesn't always reach wide-spread status.
Health officials said it's never too late to get a flu shot.
"The length of the season will depend on just how the influenza goes," said Ted Krafczyk, of the Monongalia County Health Department. "It's a variable disease. We no longer are able to say it will be over in four weeks, or two weeks. It could go another month or two. That's why we're still telling people to get vaccinated."
The CDC said the flu has caused 16 deaths in children so far this season.
