We have all heard the saying, "A dog is a man's best friend." You may never know how true that statement is until you meet a dog that comes from the program "Paws 4 People."

West Virginia native and country/pop singer Lauren Winans came to a Taylor County animal shelter to raise awareness about spaying and neutering.
P.U.R.R. West Virginia has been in operation since 2008. It offers adoptions for cats and kittens and low-cost spaying and neutering services. Just last year, 524 casts and kittens were adopted from the shelter.
Winans, who agreed to help by recording a public service announcement for the shelter, said she fell in love with P.U.R.R. and wants to do what she can to raise awareness.
"It's so important to get them spayed and neutered. Look at the population. Every cat that's not spayed and neutered, she can have 400,000 kittens just from her starting the cycle. That's a lot of cats that die every year just because you didn't spay of neuter your cat," Winans said.
If you're looking to adopt, Winans said to check out P.U.R.R. West Virginia. All cats and kittens are spayed and neutered before going to their forever homes.
