Update

Westover Police said they are looking at possible connections between Thursday's armed bank robbery and others in the city within the past two years.

Thursday's incident occurred at the WesBanco on Commerce Drive shortly before 1 p.m. It was the first at the WesBanco, but armed robberies have occurred at the United Bank in Westover during the first week of January each of the previous two years.

Police described Thursday's robber as being a male standing 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches, a similar description as the robbers in 2011 and 2012.

Police said Thursday's robber was light skinned, wearing a faded blue "West Virginia" sweatshirt and jeans, and got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police used the State Police's K-9 unit to follow leads based on witness accounts and made several traffic stops, but no arrests.

WesBanco has since reopened.
