The Glenville Police Department arrested two Gilmer County residents on Dec. 26 following a call from the Go-Mart in Glenville about a 4-year-old girl who had been found in the parking lot by herself.

Police arrested Donald Lee Skinner, 41, and Barbara Louise Wilson, 39, both of Glenville, and charged them with child neglect creating risk of injury.

The girl was found wearing an adult sweatshirt with nothing under it and wasn't wearing shoes, according to the criminal complaint. The girl told police that she was home with her 12-year-old brother and thought that he left, so she took her cat and went to Go-Mart for help.

Wilson told police that she was sick, due to being a diabetic, and had her boyfriend, Donald Skinner, drive her to a residence outside of town. Wilson said they were only gone for about 20 minutes. Upon visiting the house, police noticed that the downstairs of the house wasn't heated, there was rotting food sitting on the couch, cat litter on the floor, and the downstairs smelled like cat urine, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said there was a 12-inch kitchen knife and a four-inch pocket knife accessible to children in the upstairs of the house, along with prescription pills.

Skinner and Wilson are being held in Central Regional Jail with bail set at $25,000 each.
